The Kanatha Foundation began in May 2007 with the theme “There are other ways to catch your dreams”. its first awareness campaign on the risks and consequences associated with alcohol and other drug use and gambling in Quebec’s Aboriginal communities. This campaign took place over a period of three years. Faced with the interest of such a campaign and following the request for support expressed by the Kanatha Foundation, the Fondation Mise sur toi decided to financially support the project.

The Kanatha Foundation has been very successful with community health workers and the aboriginal population. 491 responders were trained by the Kanatha team, 596 adults attended the adult workshop and more than 8,000 community members attended gatherings where several activities were offered free of charge. Nous sommes fiers de dire que la notoriété de la Fondation Kanatha s’est étendue bien au-delà des communautés visitées. Ainsi, l’ouverture à de nouvelles collaborations est non seulement possible, mais souhaitée par les membres des Premières Nations.
