My life takes root:
In collaboration with the Tshakapesh Institute, the Kanatha Foundation conducted a workshop in four communities. The purpose of this workshop is to motivate fathers, to give them a warm welcome and to make them feel that they are wanted and important and that they are needed. We think it’s important to open the doors to include men in the community care system. The branches of the extended family form the core of the identity of Indigenous peoples and are represented across generations in various ways.
Learning to compose by trying a certain dialogue with her son is a wish many Aboriginal fathers have today. The involvement of fathers with their sons is essential, not only for the health and well-being of families and communities, but also for identity.
