Since 2020, the Kanatha Foundation has been offering workshops to elementary and high school youth in Indigenous communities. To date, more than 398 young people have been met by our workers. Based on the many comments received from teachers who participated in the workshops as well as from management, our workshops were a great success.

Some appreciation messages

“Your workshops and interventions with young people were able to captivate and interest them during your visit. In addition to brilliantly facilitating your workshops, you have shown a great openness towards them and their experience. Nicole and Joanne are exceptional people and their experience is remarkable. This makes the children feel confident to discuss and share.

Consider all of you welcome for future visits, and we are ready to receive you as often and for as long as possible.”

  • Sandra St-Laurent, principal at Johnny Pilot Elementary School, Uashat Community.

“Reading my teachers’ comments, you received a perfect score. The objectives were clear and precise, the subjects addressed met the needs related to the pedagogical intention. The teachers mentioned that it was a great initiative to give workshops and that they will consult your new Kanatha website. Your commitment and enthusiasm have made this workshop a great success!

We look forward to continued collaboration with the Kanatha Foundation.”

  • Dave Lefebvre, principal at Amik-Wiche High School, Lac Simon Community.

“I want to thank you and your team for coming to lead the workshop, what is your superpower. My students and I enjoyed reading the book and the hand activity led by Joanne Courchesne. Through this workshop, students were able to identify strengths that they recognize. Improving the self-esteem of my students concerned me so it was a joy for me to see that it was going in this direction.

I cannot ignore the “Sushi” activity that resulted directly from your visit. One of my students had a dream of eating Sushi. Thanks to your participation, that of Ms. Courchesne and Mr. Ouakanine, I had everything in my power to make and carry out this activity in class.

Hoping to get a chance to work with you again.”

  • Chantal Groleau, grade 5 teacher, Amikobi School, Anishnabe Nation of Lac-Simon

I would like to thank you for coming to our community to host two workshops for our young people at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The materials and activities were entirely adequate, well chosen and the presentation of the facilitators was very dynamic, which made it possible to encourage exchanges and open discussion on the specific themes of the workshops.Students participated very well by asking questions and providing feedback. Supported by beautiful visuals, the language used by your animators was well understood by all.

We look forward to continuing this successful collaboration with the Kanatha Foundation and I encourage your team to continue the dynamic work that led to the success of these workshops. As Director, I would not hesitate to recommend your workshops to other communities.”

  • Éric Garneau, principal at Amishk primary school, community of Mashteuiatsh.

“Hello Joanne, I would like to take a moment and say a big thank you to you and the team of the Kanatha Foundation for your involvement for the workshop, what is your super power. You listened to the young people, you presented the material well and the young people were really motivated. The students were very interested and participating. Keep up the good work, it’s amazing.”

  • Geneviève Taschereau, grade 5 teacher, Seskitin School, Wemotaci Community.

“I would like to thank you and congratulate your facilitators, Joanne and Nicole, for their hard work with youth. In a context where young people are not familiar with your facilitators, in addition to their skills, they have demonstrated excellent responsiveness by adapting very quickly to the environment of our youth.Reading the comments of our teachers, all were unanimous, they greatly appreciated, mainly Chantal Groleau, who teaches in grade 5 and who after your departure produced a book with her students on the superpowers of each.

We would like to continue this collaboration with your organization and I encourage your team to continue the great work that led to the success of these workshops.”

  • Hélène Caron, principal at Amikobi Elementary School, Anishnabe Community of Lac-Simon.

Your visit to our school was greatly appreciated by both teachers and students. I have received many positive comments following your visit and we sincerely hope to work with you again in future years. Our door will always be open to welcome you. We look forward to seeing you again.”
